Mobile Applications

What are they?

Conscia defines a mobile application as being a business IT system that can be accessed by workers who are on the move, primarily using a mobile phone or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).

How does it work?

A typical system allows a worker to log on, view and enter data on a phone or PDA which is connected to the company’s central database application, over wireless or phone networks. In certain scenarios with poor wireless or phone connectivity, the worker is able to continue working in offline mode, relying on automatic data updates when connectivity is restored later.

Mobile Application Integration

These mobile applications are fully integrated into a wider web based business IT system, allowing workers and mangers to view, enter, control and report data using a traditional personal or notebook computer. A flexible approach to multiple platforms allows workers to switch between preferred modes of system usage, looking at the same data in different ways, across multiple company entities in the office or on the move.

Example Applications

Typical applications include situations where there is a strong desire to replace existing slower, labour intensive paper based processes with instant electronic data gathering. Typical examples include:

  • Company Auditing Processes (Quality, Environmental & other standards)
  • Company metric data gathering
  • Incident Management (Accidents, Thefts, RIDDOR & other events)
  • Patrolling Applications
